Project: Equipment Maintenance Tracking System
Client: Die and Stamping Company
Summary: The company wanted a system to track maintenance on their dies. They had determined that an intra-web application would be the best for them so that the various PCs throughout the company would not need to be updated whenever changes were made. They also wanted to keep the cost low. They decided to use MySQL for their database and PHP for their web-scripting language. When we were brought in, the system had languished in development for 18 months, with only a user interface defined. The user interface was generally good, but some redefinition was needed to better manage the large amount of data that eventually would be in the system when it went into production. The tables for the underlying database also needed to be redefined, and better
security and reports needed to be added to the system. Plus, of course, the whole application needed to be made functional. We worked closely with the client to understand their business and needs. The client was updated weekly so that they could see progress and review key pieces as they were implemented. The project was delivered in 5 weeks.
Technologies: PHP and MySQL database
Environment: Windows 2000 Server
