Build Technician - Glass Assembly Operations

We are searching for a Build Technician to join our client's team as a specialist in glass assembly operations.

You will be joining a team that is developing cutting edge products that will make a meaningful impact on the energy efficiency of buildings throughout the world.

In this role you will oversee the full rapid prototyping line.

LOCATION
Ypsilanti, MI

COMPENSATION
Up to $70K

REQUIRED FOR BUILD TECHNICIAN - GLASS ASSEMBLY OPERATIONS
  • Associate's degree in a technical field and 5+ years' experience in a related role OR vocational training and 10+ years' experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience using control systems and human machine interfaces (HMIs)
  • Proficient using MS Office product suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Hands-on individual with the ability to work on your feet for several hours daily
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with glass or solar panels, coatings, or fabricated glass
  • Experience with robotics

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
  • Work with laboratory technicians to learn the fundamental science and process steps required to fabricate a small scale prototype unit.
  • Assist in specifying, sourcing and installing equipment required for the rapid prototyping line.
  • Operate equipment and oversee processes for the prototype line, including health and safety, equipment preventative maintenance and materials compliance.
  • Assist in definition of Design of Experiments (DOEs), executing the DOEs, coordinating testing and evaluation of DOEs, and summarizing key DOE findings.
  • Take the lead in equipment and process troubleshooting and failure analysis for assembly operations.
  • Help develop analytical test methods, procedures, and metrology infrastructure in collaboration with the Test and Analytics Manager.
  • Work with the team to develop material/component, process and equipment requirements and specifications that align with 2.0 product requirements.
  • Cross-train with other Build Technicians to develop competency in all prototype line operations and fill in for other technicians as required.
