We are searching for someone to be responsible for firmware design and development activities associated with high volume electronic products associated with the AMI industry.
Our client’s environment has been described as a garage shop on steroids, growing too fast for its staffing numbers and internal processes to keep up with, but with excellent people helping each other somehow manage to pump out industry-leading designs.

LOCATION
Cleveland, OH area
COMPENSATION
Up to 80K, depending on skills and experience.
EDUCATION
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
REQUIRED
- 5 or more years of relevant industry experience.
- Advanced background in microprocessor application development.
- Basic understanding hardware interfaces.
- Basic understanding of communications, protocol selection, and network configuration.
- Embedded firmware development experience for StrongARM series microprocessors.
- MicroCOS/II (reference Jean Labrosse) experience.
- C/C++ programming for microprocessors.
- Communications protocols
- Network protocols (TCP/IP)
- C/ C++ programming with target for embedded processor w/RTOS.
PREFERRED
- Some hardware design experience.
- IAR GUI environment.
OVERVIEW
- Firmware development, which incorporates all aspects of firmware design from concept to production launch.
- Ensure firmware captures and maintains system-level behavior and constraint requirement.
- Develop and implement strategy to validate resulting systems against customer requirements. Thus the firmware design and development responsibilities include the development and implementation of design verification test procedures.
- Responsible for the overall quality of the firmware incorporated in the system, its performance against customer requirements and it’s on schedule delivery.
- All designs are to exceed requirements of governing agencies (i.e., FCC and FM) and must be capable of listing with these agencies where applicable.
- Interacting in a team environment and working with others to achieve the best possible end product from all functional viewpoints.
- Using DFMA principles as related to both electronic and mechanical fabrication and assembly processes.
- Capturing and directing corrective actions in response to field complaints and supply issues.
