COMPENSATION
$83,000 - $90,000 plus an annual bonus target of 10-15% of base compensation (depending on skills and experiences)
EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree in Operations, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or the equivalent
Masters Degree, MBA, or the equivalent preferred
REQUIRED
- This role requires a proven track record of managing a Business Unit of 100+ individuals including managing managers.
- Broad knowledge of production planning, material planning, quality and related manufacturing systems in an automotive environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of material requirement planning and inventory management techniques.
- Strong understanding of statistical process control and how to use data to drive decisions.
- Ability to comply with all ISO/TS 16949 and ISO-14001 procedures and work instructions as it pertains to the Business Unit Leader position description.
- Ability to interact professionally with key business executives.
PREFERRED
- 5 to 10 years of Operations and Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading Lean Manufacturing based teams all the way through implementation of Lean-related changes
- Six Sigma certification
- Manufacturing knowledge of safety, equipment, tooling processes and quality requirements
OVERVIEW
- Responsible for the Environment, Health, and Safety of his/her employees, customers, suppliers, and other employees, both on the production floor and in the office space. Champions all HSE activities at whatever level it requires as it pertains to his/her respective Business Unit.
- Responsible for directing all plant floor operations, providing daily direction and projects for BU team members using Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement tools and methodology.
- Ensures that all direct reports (Material Planner (MP), Customer Service Coordinator (CSC), Manufacturing Engineer (ME), Quality Engineer (QE), etc.) have clearly established objectives and performance expectations to ensure that the Business Unit achieves its goal (on-time, complete, delivery of customer orders with product that meets all specifications in a safe manner).
- Effectively leads appropriate plant-wide resources during product launches; ensures ongoing communication with appropriate launch partners during, before, and after launch; understands overall launch responsibility at the Business Unit level
- Oversees the creation of a production schedule, production attainment, and material planning to ensure achievement of on-time, complete delivery commitment.
- Ensures that all operators are properly trained (Safety, Quality Processes, Quality Standards, Quality Systems, etc.) and certified before producing products within a specific work cell. Ensures that versatility charts are visible and up-to-date for each work cell.
- Guides and develops the cross-functional team to develop their expertise and capabilities to achieve their objectives through effective utilization of the Performance and Development Process.
