Applications Engineer (Powertrain Test Cells)

We are searching for several Applications Engineers to commission and support Powertrain test cells.

These are traveling roles, which is ideal for candidates who would enjoy traveling throughout the U.S. as part of their job.

LOCATION
Ann Arbor, MI

This role requires travel up to 50% of the year. Most travel is domestic. There can be travel to Canada and Mexico.

COMPENSATION
Excellent benefits plus salary commensurate with education and experience.

At Level 1, 65-70K
At Level 2, 70-77K
At Level 3, 77-85K
At Level 4, 85K+

EDUCATION
Your educational background could be in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Powertrain).

At Level 1, you'll have a Bachelors + 1 year experience or an Associates + 5 years

At Level 2, you'll have a Masters + 1 year experience or a Bachelors + 3 years or an Associates + 9

At Level 3, you'll have a Masters + 3 years' experience or a Bachelors + 7 or an Associates + 13

At Level 4, you'll have a Masters + 7 years' experience or a Bachelors + 10 years or an Associates + 17 years

REQUIRED
  • For the more experienced candidates, you must have experience commissioning at a test site.
  • Dynamometer experience is important.
  • Experience with data acquisition and control (DAC) (such as iTest, Puma, ADAPT, Stars, ADACS).
  • Experience or education in internal combustion engine theory and combustion analysis.
  • Basic understanding of emissions bench and fuel measurement systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings
  • Excellent personal interaction skills. This is a role that requires individuals to be at customer sites functioning as the primary interface with customer personnel.

OVERVIEW
  • You will use our client's software tool to develop custom application configurations and test processes for chassis, engine and other powertrain related test cells.
  • You will set up, configure and troubleshoot test cell systems, instrumentation and interfaces to other systems.
  • You will provide commissioning documentation or final configuration information to customers.
  • You will provide follow-up technical support as needed and requested.
  • You will provide pre-sales support as well as post-installation help desk support.
